Benefits of Massage

In today’s stressful environment, massage is now more than ever considered one of the most important means to maintaining a physically and mentally healthy lifestyle.  Therapeutic massage has been shown to have a profound effect treating many conditions both physical and psychological, massage does:

  • Enhance the immune system by stimulating lymph flow – the body’s natural defense system.  Studies funded by the National Institute of Health have found massage beneficial in treating HIV patients, underweight infants, migraines, fibromyalgia and those suffering from heart and other surgeries.
  • Alleviate chronic low-back pain, including total body relief from those suffering from Chronic Pain Syndrome or suffering pain from an accident.
  • Lessen stress, depression and anxiety.
  • Lowers blood pressure, assists in conditions of insomnia.
  • Exercises and stretches weak, tight and atrophied muscles.
  • Increases joint flexibility and range of motion.
  • Helps athletes prepare for and recover from strenuous workouts.
  • Promotes tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
  • Pumps oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
  • Relieve migraine pain.
  • Reduce spasms and cramping (including menstrual cramps).
  • Improves posture.
  • Releases endorphins in the body – giving a sense of well-being.
  • Increased energy and improved concentration.
  • Decrease in pain for arthritis sufferers.

Research continues to show the enormous benefits of touch from treating chronic diseases, neurological disorders and injuries to alleviating the tensions of everyday modern life.  Consequently, the medical community is embracing massage as an integral part of hospice care and neonatal intensive care unites, and many hospitals are incorporating on-site massage practitioners to treat post surgery or pain patients as part of the recovery process.

Getting a therapeutic massage on a regular basis will help you remain healthy both physically and mentally, and you will feel great.
